If you're putting up your Mississauga real estate for sale and moving to Calgary (or the other way around) you've got a house hunt coming up. To help your real estate agent narrow down the list of hundreds of homes for sale in the area, you should come up with a checklist of features you need, want, or would like to see in a house. If you've never made one up before, here are some of the categories you should consider.

Size

Most people move because they've found that their current real estate in Vaughan has become too small or too large for their needs. Therefore you should spell out roughly how much space you need your new home to have. Give this figure in square footage if you know it (e.g. 1400 or more square feet) or you can dictate how many of what type of rooms you need (e.g. we'll need four bedrooms and two full bathrooms plus an extra half bath downstairs).

Style

While many people who are looking at Scarborough condos for sale know only 'like' and 'don't like' when it comes to style, others know exactly what kind of architecture and interior design they want. If you're in the second category, tell your real estate agent exactly what you have in mind. Looking for Victorian architecture? Crown moulding? Hardwood floors? These are all things you should mention to your realtor. Although many interiors can be redesigned, it's easier to have them come already perfect.

Features

Different people need different things from their homes. Some people need garages for their cars while others take public transit and would prefer that space be taken up by an extra family room. Any features your looking for in Toronto condominiums for sale should go on your list. This includes fireplaces, new kitchen appliances, sunrooms, libraries, balconies, backyard decks, yards, swimming pools, in-building gyms, parking, garages, finished basements, and bay windows.

Location

When Etobicoke real estate agents subdivide the listings, they usually do so first by property type (condo, house, etc.) and then by neighborhood, so specifying where in the city you want your house to be is a big help. Choose two or three you like to give them enough room to maneuver. Even if you don't know any neighborhoods, you can always say what you want from the neighborhood (i.e. housing association, lots of families, schools nearby) and the realtor can fill in the blanks for you.
